A birthday video keepsake can start in the least glamorous place: the kitchen table after the party, when the frosting has gone slightly stiff and someone has abandoned one sock under a chair.

That is usually when the phone comes out. Not for the grand entrance or the cake photo everyone already took. For the smaller bits. The wobbly candle song.
